Train deraillment at the entrance of Adendros - ETSM Kilkis and Pavlos Melas
On May 14 at 21:45 the I / C58 train, carrying 70 passengers and 5 staff members and operating the Athens-Thessaloniki route, for unknown reasons, derailed just outside Adendros, the wagon hitting a building of OSE (Railway organisation of Hellas), penetrating through it.
Immediate action was taken to mobilize all relevant departments to unblock passengers and train staff. The call also attended the Volunteers of ETSM of Kilkis and Pavlos Melas.
In particular, there were 28 rescuers and 3 mobile units from EKAB (Ambulance Unit) with doctors, as well as 12 ambulances.
For the evacuation of passengers, another 21 firefighting vehicles arrived with 60 personnel, as well as 15 officers and 75 police and traffic police men.
The Chief Executive Officer of OSE and EESSTY, following a mandate from the Minister, Mr Chr. Spiritzis, went to the scene of the accident, where the trenches of TRAINOSE, EESSY and OSE were already in place to investigate the conditions and causes of the tragic incident.
According to the latest information from all relevant services, there are two dead, three seriously injured, two of whom are traumatized, one intubated in heavy condition and four slightly injured.
