On Wednesday, September 20th, around 21:00, a large scale fire was ignited in the Koutsi area of the municipality of Nemea. The forces of the fire brigade fought with the flames during the night.
The fire could not be controlled even after 24 hours. The total disaster counts forest and rural damage.

Volunteers of EPOMEA Velou Voha, rushed to help in the difficult task of the fire brigade, by financially supporting and manning a fire vehicle.

Eventually, airplanes were used to prevent the expansion of fire to Ancient Nemea and to extinguish it. The strong winds in the area, made it difficult for firefighters and volunteers to accomplish their task, according to the official Fire Brigade.
The Mayor of Velo Vochas, Mr Anivas Papakyriakos congratulated Elite Team Special Missions Vellou Vocha for their readiness and immediate response to the big fire in an official announcement by the Municipality of Velos.
